Toby Merrill was first and foremost a father, husband and friend.

He grew up in Kingston, PA and attended Wyoming Valley West High School. Toby graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1997, where he served as a student-athlete on the football team as #97. After graduating school, Toby led a very successful professional career rising through the ranks of Chubb to become an Executive Vice President, an insurance industry leader and in 2016 was named the US Cyber Risk Industry Person of the Year. Toby married Susan, a fellow F&M alum, and proudly raised his two daughters Livi and Emma.

After a courageous 21-month fight, Toby passed away from Gastric Cancer on August 12, 2016. Through his final days, Toby was focused on developing a lasting legacy by creating a nationwide scholarship helping kids who lost a parent too soon still be able to afford college. Toby wanted these kids to experience "not four years but a lifetime" as he did, to be pushed beyond comfort, and to grow into a potential you didn't know existed.
